It has been in the 90s the past week and so I have been spending a lot of time inside.
About lunch time I would go out and check on everyone and make sure they had water and fill up the duck pools with fresh water and sit and watch everyone till I started to overheat.
This afternoon, while I was sitting, I had the company of the kids. William loves to be loved, but for some reason doesn't want me to try to trim his horns, so he decided not to be my friend today. Dollie on the other hand was happy to take over my lap. While she was there, I managed to trim her hooves and even managed to get two of William's done too. Maggie wasn't interested and so it will have to be for another day.
After 5 pm I went out again to get the chickens and pigs settled. I sat on the feed bucket after feeding the birds and just watched and tried to count the roosters coming up. I know I have at least 10 of them. While I was sitting there watching the chickens, I heard some slurping noises and turned to watch the pigs enjoying their wallow or at least trying to.
Guster and Sierra all stretched out as was Bonnie. Standing over Bonnie, with her snout on top of her nose, was Thursday. She must have stood there about 5 minutes keeping her nose on Bonnie as if to say, "I'm not touching you." (but she was). Everyone once in a while Bonnie would try to bite her and then go back to just laying there. Even Guster got up and started in on Thursday, but she went right back to being annoying. I could hear her saying, "Igga Igga" as she sought out to drive Bonnie crazy. I know Bonnie wanted to break something, but she exercised amazing patience and finally Thursday gave up and lay down.
Thursday was my bottle baby who I slept on the floor with for the first week of her life. I hope I never have to do that again--I got no sleep, she just drove me crazy. Now she is about 300 lbs and still annoying.
My biggest Yahoo of the day was that I finally figured out how to keep the goats out of the yard!!!! I lock them out of the pasture. I keep them in their pen and from there they can get into the pig pen, but can't get out of either. The cars are safe now, as are all boxes in the garage and my totes of cow feed. I hope it works tomorrow too.
